 The International Color Consortium ICC was founded in 1992. A standard for color profiles was published in 1993 by the ICC. Today the ICC-standard for color profiles is established in most colormanagement systems.

In ICC-profiles there exist two kinds of calculation methods:
- Matrix-based-profiles with 3x3-matrix and Tone Reproduction Curve (TRC)
- LUT-based-profiles with multidimensional Look-Up-Table (CLUT), Input- and Output-Curves
